Personal data is data which can be connected to you as a person and which may provide statements on your behaviour or particular characteristics. This covers of course your name, email and postal address and telephone number but also indicators of possible interests, ranging from how you make donations to how you surf, if these items of information can be directly or indirectly associated with you personally.
Data security and data management
We collect such personal data from donors and sponsors as they are required to receive and manage donations.
We also use your address, and with your permission, your telephone number and e-mail address to inform you of developments or planned activities in the Blue Heart campaign. If it is identifiable that certain data is dispensable for a particular data collection effort, then this information is of course optional.
We assure you that we do not sell, lease, give away, pass on or exchange your data. You have the right to stop receiving information from us and to revoke your consent for using your communication data at any time. In this case please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you register for one of our online services, for instance if you subscribe to our online newsletter, we ask you for your name and other personal information that we need. We would never use your email address for other purposes without your consent. As a matter of principle the software we use conveys your data in encrypted form in order to exclude any access by unauthorised third persons. Your data is stored on specially protected servers. Access is only granted to few authorized persons who are familiar with the prevailing data protection regulations.
For accessing our website a temporary registration of the IP number is indispensible. The IP address is the world-wide valid, unique identification of a computer and consists of four numbers separated by full stops. Usually, if you are a private user you will not have a permanent IP address since it is only allotted to you temporarily by your provider for each session. However in the case of static IP addresses a clear attribution of user data is in principle possible.
Our web servers store IP addresses for reasons of security for a specific period of time. The access data is anonymized. Our statistics software also stores IP addresses for a longer period of time. As a matter of principle we do not use this data related to any particular person, we merely analyse, on an anonymized basis, which of our pages are particularly popular, how many hits are registered each day and the like.
We do place cookies (small text files with information on visits to the website which are temporarily saved on your hard disk). These help us to calculate the user frequency and numbers of users on our website. The cookies are used solely for these purposes and are anonymized. On no account are they used to examine your user behaviour or to influence your choice of the contents we offer.
The user can in fact access what we offer on the website without cookies. Most browsers are set up to accept cookies automatically. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser to notify you as soon as cookies are used so you can refuse the storage of cookies.
